Hi! I am originally from WV (born in VA), then moved to TN when I was in middle school. I grew up in the Episcopal Church by virtue of the fact that my father is an Episcopal priest. I went to undergrad at Clemson University in SC, majoring in History, and spending my summers working as a summer camp counselor at the WV diocesan camp. I spent my senior year of college studying abroad - I studied in Tarragona, Spain (near Barcelona), and learned Spanish, Catalan, and how to live the more relaxing way of life that the Spaniards enjoy. I immediately entered graduate school on a Ph.D. track (directly from my bachelor's degree). I am currently in my fourth year of graduate school in History. I recently decided to finish up my graduate education with a Master's Degree this Fall (2007). I am specializing in U.S. History since 1865, with a focus in Diplomatic History. I have been a member of Canterbury Colorado for more than two years now, having just spent a year serving as Peer Minister during the previous school year. I am motivated by a progressive sense of Christianity that seeks to put the needs of others and those around me at the center of my ministry. Feeding the hungry, serving the poor, ministering to the hurt - these are the things that I feel God calling me to do. I served in an internship in the summer of 2006 through the (National) Episcopal Church that placed me in Concord, NH, doing refugee resettlement. That was an incredible experience, and deeply moving as well. One day, I hope to serve in the field of diplomacy, either for the government or for a non-profit company (such as refugee resettlement groups, Amnesty International, etc.). I love to play guitar, listen and talk about music (favorite groups: Ben Harper, Iron and Wine, Sufjan Stevens, Ozomatli, Ben Folds), read books (favorite books: East of Eden by Steinbeck, Catcher in the Rye by Salinger), cook interesting dishes, and spend time with friends. I'm also a Dance Dance Revolution star.
