Hello, my name is Jennie Carr. I am currently an undergraduate at CU pursuing a degree in Classics, specializing in Latin. In addition to studying classical languages (Latin and Greek) I have also studied German and dabbled in linguistics. I’m probably the biggest grammar nerd you will ever meet. I love to read, especially when it’s not for school. I enjoy Agatha Christie mysteries, the Harry Potter series, and David Sedaris’ essays. I’m also a sucker for books about Jesus, the history of the Church, Christian spirituality, or world religions. I also enjoy music and movies, but my secret passion is for creativity. If I’ll get covered in paint, strangled by yarn, stuck by a needle, or made sticky with glue, I’ll pretty much love it.
I come from Greenwood Village, Colorado. After graduating from the (in)famous Cherry Creek high school, I decided that I wanted to go to a big in-state college that was not too far from home but also far enough away from my parents as to ensure that they would not just “drop in” and that also offered a Classics degree. As it turns out, my best (and only) option that met all of those criteria was CU Boulder. It was and remains a great choice for me and I really love going to school here. I love Jesus, the Episcopal Church, and being involved in a faith community that both nurtures my faith and encourages it to grow deeper. The students and clergy involved with Canterbury have helped me to find my place at CU and are aiding and encouraging me in as I seek to discover my place in the world. I am excited to work with the Canterbury community in the coming year and I cannot wait to meet you.
